Les Lumineuses: Ville Saint-Laurent

In 2022, as part of workshops offered at the Ville Saint-Laurent Women's Center, participants were invited to take photos of their neighbourhood in order to identify traces of their daily lives. The photography workshops were combined with artistic creation workshops, with art therapist Katherine Rochon, allowing participants to transform part of their photography through drawing, painting and collage. This process made it possible to deepen perspectives, to share experiences and cultures while projecting an individual and common ideal. Discussions about the environment and safety gave them the opportunity to make links with one's well-being and citizenship. In this context, artistic creation is a dynamic vector of creativity and citizenship, making it possible to imagine a parallel world to promote one's creativity, find solutions, have the feeling of empowerment, and provide room for dreams as a source of hope. The final creations were digitized and turned into lanterns for exhibition at the women's center.
